I found this tidbit interesting:
....the company has not decided on what mode of transportation Wagoner would take if had to travel to Washington again.
Wagoner and Ford CEO Alan Mulally are required by their companies to fly by private aircraft for security reasons, according to company documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Hmm... these guys are in the auto industry. I guess they could take, oh, I don't know, a car? If driving is good enough for John Madden I think it should be good enough for the car guys.
On the subject of GM, I have to wonder what the NAIAS is going to be like this year. GM should make a statement and just do a simple car-lot display, all their models sitting in rows with a little single-wide sales office mock-up and a couple guys with mustaches and tan tweed suits walking around. Do it cheep and cheesy, but still make an appearance (provided they are still an existent car company) and save the millions they usually spend on flash presentations. It would not be as "cool" as everyone else there, but it would stand out and as I said make the statement that they are still around and care about cutting costs.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just thinking out loud...

ReplyDeletePatrick and I came up with the solution -- this could be a great Marketing tool. Rick should definitely drive to Washington but do it in one of GM's Hybrid vehicles to demonstrate the technology GM is bringing to market. He should offer to "carpool" with the Ford and Chrysler guys (who of course won't accept!) and he can make a big deal about how this kind of technology and green choices would be lost if GM were to go under. It's brilliant!
