The foot is the least of her concerns, though. She also
fractured her T7 vertebrae. She is in so much pain that they’ve moved her from
morphine to dilaudid and the first dose barely touched her. Thankfully, Nurse
Kelly just gave her another push and that seems to be doing the trick.
All the nurses have been fabulous, even the ones working
on Christmas day. A husband-wife team of nurses took care of her in the ER last
night, and since we moved to her room we’ve been beyond pleased with the nursing
teams.
My plan for my little corner of the blogosphere this week
and next was to do a few best-ofs; that is still my plan, starting tomorrow.
But it just didn’t seem right to start off like that when so many friends and
family members may be checking here for an update.
Thanks to everyone who’s prayed, sent emails and Facebook
messages. Hanging around the ER was not how we planned to spend Christmas. But
it made me think that Mary certainly had to revise her birthing plan when ol’ Joseph
said to saddle up and head to Bethlehem.
That change of plans worked out pretty well. Just another reminder that
his ways are not my ways. But they are the best ways.
Oh.My.Word.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so hard to see bad things happen to good people. Please know that the entire Braatz clan is praying for her swift recovery... She is certainly adding another chapter to her "life stories". I just hope it's a short one :)
Much Love,
Mary Grace and fam
Good grief! I remember a line from a (movie? TV show? can't remember!) where one character says "Someday we'll look back on this--" and the other says, "The sooner the better." This sounds like one of those times, but she and your family will be in my prayers - wishing her a full and fast recovery!
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance, tell Nanny that Elizabeth and Tom are praying, praying, praying for her (and y'all). Also, we're going past you guys Wednesday (bringing Sarah Grace to Detroit airport) so if you need anything by then... we're coming through. <3
ReplyDeleteChristy, I am so sorry about your mom.....will she need surgery on the back too? Hang in there...I'm so grateful it wasn't worse:)
