Random Thoughts

The Daytona 500 was supposed to be run yesterday, but for the first time in its 54 year history, it was postponed. And this, after we raced home from church. I am just a little bitter I didn’t get my social time in the lobby…

It was just as well that we headed home. I was wearing my love/hate heels. Love because they are beautiful, hate because they kill my feet. Traci asked why I wear them if they hurt. She was looking right at them – surely she knew the answer is, “Because they are gorgeous.”

As soon as I got home, I put on fuzzy socks, which I wore the rest of the day.

Sean is so disappointed about missing the race. He asked Michael to periodically text him during the running so he knows how it’s going.

At noon today I think Michael will be very happy to be homeschooled. I think Sean will be very happy to have a homeschooler, too.

I’ve seen a few posts on Facebook about parents getting ready for open houses for their seniors. It feels like we’ll be the only parents of a high school senior not hosting an open house. Southern friends, you would not believe how big a deal it is to have an open houses for a graduating senior.

Before y’all start feeling all sad for Michael, rest assured we will be hosting lots of family members. Our families travel far and wide for graduations.

Understandably, some family members wondered what we’d be doing for his graduation. How exactly, do home school students have a graduation? Are we going to print off some Duffy Homeschool diploma and hand it to him in our living room?

That would be pretty funny.

The probability of my crying in a living room ceremony is much lower than crying during a ceremony where they’re going to flash baby pictures of the graduating class.

I should have picked really bad pictures. Instead, Michael picked these:

Driving as early as he could. Some things never change.

Hahahaha! How cute! Were the water wings in case he fell off the golf cart?! Sooooo cute! Is he going through the Teenworks graduation? If he is, it's a tearjerker... They have you give him the diploma. Love that.
    Hang in!
