If Rebecca asks me one more time why factors are important, I am throwing the, "It will help you with division and multiplication and fractions in the future," line out the window and will scream, "I DON'T KNOW! I never use factors and wish I were doing anything other than figuring out the factors of 60."
I know this was not on my list. Not that I can find the list, but I know if I had it, "Do Factors" would NOT be on it.
Ugh.
Here are a few of the factors we've been working on. We're about to work on Greatest Common Factors (GCF). Rebecca says, "Blech." A girl after my own heart.
Then you can move to least common denominators (LCD). Fun.
ReplyDeleteSean - it's times like this I wonder how in the world we ever got together.
ReplyDeleteI love a good "when will I ever use this in real life challenge?"
ReplyDeleteSo, let's say you have made 60 Christmas cookies. How many different ways could you split them up as gifts for friends?
Give 1 friend 60 cookies or 60 friends 1 cookie...Give 2 friends 30 cookies or 30 friends 2 cookies...give 3 friends 20 cookies or 20 friends 3 cookies...and so on. :)
Or...I suppose that non-math types would give random amounts of friends random amounts of cookies, but I just can't fathom such a thing. :)
Sarah - hope you still want to be my friend after reading this! After all, I am very much a non-math type!!
